The Rose Hotel where the sea air mixes with the scent of freshly brewed tea which is served in sweet blue and white mugs. Owned by former Wallpaper.com Editor Alex Bagner, renovated by interior design team Harding & Read, and styled by Michelle Kelly. This hotel was bound to be a delight for the eyes and it did not disappoint.

The mustard bath hidden behind an emerald green curtain was a delightful surprise and contained delicious toiletries from Austin Austin, an organic East Anglian company. Although, as beautiful as it looked I have to say I do prefer more privacy than a thin curtain when using the bathroom.

The bedroom exuded personality and was filled with mid-century treasures and contemporary art prints. I spotted fabric and wallpapers throughout the hotel from Farrow & Ball, House of Hackney and Liberty and was told that Tracey Emin’s brother, Paul, a carpenter, had created the bar.

The relaxed and laid-back hotel is cozy and comfortable with a unique character. The perfect place for couples and friends to enjoy a seaside short break. Although children are welcome its not perfectly set up for them and there were lots of Down From London types who didn’t strike me as the sort that would tolerate a tantrum mid dinner.
